Gwen Stefani is free for Blake Shelton: Media reports that the Catholic Church annulled her marriage to Gavin Rossdale.

New beginning for Gwen Stefani (51, "Love, Angel, Music, Baby")! The singer's marriage to her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale (55, "Wanderlust") has now been officially canceled by the Catholic Church. This was confirmed by an unspecified source from Us Weekly. The decision was therefore made by a Vatican tribunal. The former No Doubt singer and the Bush frontman split up in August 2015 after a ten-year relationship.

The confirmation will be sent to Stefani by post in the next few weeks, but everything is already official and in the towel. The reason for this cancellation is probably the engagement to her new partner Blake Shelton (44, "Fully Loaded: God's Country"). The media speculate that the two also want to marry in church, which would not be possible in court if a divorce was merely earthly.

Religion is extremely important to her

"It was a great relief for Gwen," the source continues, "because she would like to be married by a priest and have her upcoming marriage recognized by the Catholic Church." Her religion is extremely important to her. The formal cancellation process has been underway since March 2019.

Stefani met Rossdale in 1995 and married him in 2002. The marriage had three sons. The divorce followed in April 2016. Before that, in November 2015, she made her new relationship with country singer Shelton public. The two met on the US version of the talent show "The Voice". In October 2020, the couple announced that they were engaged.
