Gwyneth Paltrow stands trial. The actress has been charged in an alleged hit-and-run skiing accident that happened seven years ago.

It’s about an alleged hit-and-run accident that is said to have occurred seven years ago on a ski slope in the US state of Utah: As reported by the “New York Post”, among other things, Gwyneth Paltrow, 50, has to leave Tuesday, March 21 2023, responsible for the incident in court.

Gwyneth Paltrow charged with skiing accident

The accuser is Terry Sanderson, 76. The retired doctor filed his charges in 2019. He alleges that on February 26, 2016, Paltrow seriously injured him while skiing a beginner’s slope on the slopes of Flagstaff Mountain at Deer Valley Resort near Park City, Utah. Accordingly, the collision led to a traumatic brain injury, four broken ribs and emotional stress. Since then he has lost a lot of zest for life. According to him, the Oscar winner raced downhill “uncontrollably”, rammed him and hit him in the back with full force. The ‘Shakespeare In Love’ actress claims she was hit by Sanderson. She also contradicts his account that she drove on immediately after the incident and committed a hit-and-run.

Plaintiff demanded millions

Sanderson originally wanted to claim $3.1 million in damages when he filed his lawsuit. However, according to the US Sun, this claim had already been rejected by a court in 2022. The judge ruled that the collision was not a “hit-and-run skiing accident,” as Sanderson had claimed. A ski instructor was also able to confirm that Paltrow did not continue skiing immediately after the accident, but instead took care of Sanderson first.

Apple Martin and Moses Martin also testify

Gwyneth Paltrow will not be the only member of her family to be heard under oath at the trial. Her two children, Apple Martin, 18, and Moses Martin, 16, who she has with ex Chris Martin, 46, will also testify in court. That was confirmed by the Oscar winner’s attorney, Stephen Owens, in his opening statement Tuesday, March 21, 2023, in Park City District Court. At the time of the accident, Paltrow’s children were eleven and nine years old, and it was an emotional trip, the attorney explained.

It should be a test for her blended family with her now husband Brad Falchuk, 52, and his children Isabella and Brody. As he explained: “[Falchuk] has kids exactly the same age as Gwyneth’s daughter and son and this was really their first trip together to see if this could work out. So it was a special time and it was a beautiful day.” A beautiful day that ended in a most ugly way with an accident. Owens further described the members of Paltrow’s ski group on February 26, 2016 as “she, Brad, now her husband, of you will hear about, her daughter Apple, who you will hear about, Moses, whom you will hear about” during the hearing, thereby confirming Falchuk, whom she married two years after the 2018 accident, and Paltrow’s two children will testify in court and publicly support her famous wife and mother.

Judgment expected in eight days

Terry Sanderson is currently claiming damages of 300,000 US dollars (equivalent to almost 280,000 euros) from the Hollywood star for his injuries. Gwyneth Paltrow, on the other hand, is only asking for the symbolic sum of $1 and for her court costs to be covered. The trial is expected to last eight days.
