After more than 30 years, “Good Times, Bad Times” is getting a spin-off. The “live-action series” is intended to be aimed specifically at children.

Four weeks before Christmas there is an early present for fans of the series “Good Times, Bad Times”: Next year there will be a spin-off for children, which will be shown on Super RTL in the children’s program TOGGO and on RTL+ is to be broadcast. Actors are still being sought for the skater soap.

Urban adventure for children

The spin-off about six skater friends is said to be set in the “GZSZ” universe, as stated in a statement from the production company UFA Serial Drama on Friday afternoon. A children’s offshoot is “a real rarity for programs of this target group and size.” Initially 26 episodes will be filmed in Berlin. The content says: “Kollekiez, performances in the masonry, spraying cool graffiti and always the next rap on the tongue – six friends go through thick and thin in Berlin. What they are looking for is a place for themselves and their skills. What they find , is the coolest place in the world – because it’s hidden and only belongs to them. Almost. Because soon the kids will have to fight for their safe space with a lot of passion, talent and the necessary amount of cleverness.” This is how a “real urban adventure” begins.

UFA Serial Drama confirmed that it had received the order for the new children’s series. Before The industry service “DWDL” had already reported on it. Those responsible are calling the new format a “live-action series”. Helga Löbel, producer of UFA Serial Drama and spokesperson for the Kids & Family working group at the Bertelsmann Content Alliance, is quoted as saying: “We are really pleased about the commissioning of our new kids series. It is so important to give children more space and to make them heard. They are too rarely given the spotlight in society and on television – even though they are our future!”

Castings start in December

Actors are now being sought for the series. Castings are scheduled to begin in December. Young artists “with skating or BMX skills, musical talent in singing, rapping or hip-hop, and also graffiti skills and initial acting experience” have good opportunities.

The series “Good Times, Bad Times” has been running since 1992. An average of 2.17 million viewers tuned in per episode this year. RTL shows the series Monday to Friday from 7:40 p.m.
