Major player in the publishing of fantasy books and science fiction
the Bragelonne group was in turmoil following a case of sexual harassment last spring.

Finally, the publishing house, which notably publishes the French versions of The wheel of time by Robert Jordan and The Witcher
(The Witcher) of Andrzej Sapkowski, was acquired by Hachette Livre.

Hachette seizes Bragelonne

The Bragelonne group will have struggled to recover from the scandal in which it got entangled in the spring of 2021 after an investigation by Mediapart calling into question the behavior of its editorial director, Stéphane Marsan. If no complaint has been filed, recent changes in the structure did not allow considering other alternatives than a complete takeover by Hachette Livre, already a shareholder. It is now official.

Hachette announces this 1er February get hold of Bragelonne, pillar of the publishing of works of the imaginary in France (fantasy, science fiction and fantastic). In 2019, the first publishing group in the country had already entered its capital to the tune of 43%, it now becomes the majority shareholder. Bragelonne and its catalog of 4,000 titles will join the Illustrated branch of Hachette, but the house “ will continue its development in autonomy and respect for the identity specific to the culture of Hachette Livre, while benefiting from the power of diffusion and distribution of the group as well as from its international position “, specifies the publisher in its press release.
