It was via a classic email campaign that Plex apologized and warned its users: a security breach obviously led to a data leak. It is therefore advisable to change your password.

Plex in turn victim of a security breach
It’s not just Google, Apple or Microsoft that have recently been victims of security breaches. Today, it is the turn of the Plex service to be concerned. Yesterday, the multimedia streaming service indeed noticed suspicious activity within one of its databases.
Someone outside the company was able to access some of the data stored there, including encrypted email addresses, usernames and passwords. Bank details are not affected here, while passwords should not be able to be used as is.
A hack probably without serious consequences, but…
If Plex has already corrected the flaw used by the hacker to achieve his ends, and that the firm takes the opportunity to strengthen its security, it still encourages users to take action. Changing your password (and logging out through all the devices used) can’t hurt, while activating double authentication is never a bad idea. Especially for users with a Plex Pass. Finally, Plex reminds that the company will never ask a user for a password or a credit card number.
