Hacker attack: celebrities like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos affected

Numerous celebrity accounts such as Tesla boss Elon Musk or Amazon boss Jeff Bezos were hacked on Twitter.

Numerous Twitter accounts of prominent personalities such as Tesla boss Elon Musk (49), Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (56), Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates (64) and former US President Barack Obama (58) are obviously large cyber attack. Unknowns used tweets to advertise a questionable cryptocurrency deal. They asked for bitcoins on behalf of the celebrities and promised the users to then double the amount transferred. The hackers were also targeting the accounts of companies such as Apple and Uber.

Twitter was already responding to the hacker attack that had started on Wednesday afternoon. The short message service temporarily blocked some affected accounts and released them again without the fraudulent messages. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey (43) promised in a tweet the fastest possible clarification. "A difficult day for Twitter. As soon as we have a better understanding of what exactly happened, we will let the public know as much as possible," said Dorsey.
