A new YouTube video by the hacker group Anonymous has reignited the racism debate surrounding the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). In the nearly nine-minute post, the activists accuse both the founders and the development studio Yuga Labs, among other things, of deliberately placing racist, Nazi, esoteric and pedophile symbolism in the popular NFT collection.
Furthermore, Anonymous announces measures against BAYC. First, a team of investigators from the hack group will conduct further investigations into the NFT series, the results of which will be presented to the public. In addition, prominent supporters are asked to distance themselves from the project. Finally, Anonymous invites BAYC co-founders Wylie Aronow and Greg Solano to a live discussion.
The accusations of racism against BAYC are not new. Most recently, a video by YouTuber “Philion” heated up the topic again.
