Hair breaking off? According to the expert, you can do that

If you have brittle hair, you simply try EVERYTHING to save your mane. These expert tips will really help you with that.

I'm sure you all know that: you're at the hairdresser's and really only want to have the tips cut. It's just stupid when "only the bare essentials" become several centimeters. The reason: split ends and broken hair. This is over from now on! We asked Jesús Rodriguez, Lead Expert Hair at Goldwell & KMS, for his best tips.

The anti-hair breakage plan

When it comes to hair breakage, we all primarily blame straighteners and curling irons for it. It's not just the two tools that can break our hair:

The most common reasons include thermal influences that are often exposed to the hair on a daily basis, especially hot tools such as straighteners or curling irons. Blow-drying also usually strains the hair on a daily basis. In addition, chemical influences such as color, bleaching or perm can affect the hair. Please note: This is especially true for use at home. Experiments at home often lead to irreversible damage to the hair. But environmental and hormonal influences also play a role and have a decisive influence on hair breakage and loss. Daily physical traction alone, such as a braid that is too tight or a hair tie that is too tight, damage the hair in the long term.

Even if some people might want Rapunzel hair when the structure doesn't allow it and the hair breaks after a certain length, then this length is not good for us. Of course, according to Rodriguez, coordinated care is also at the top of our must-do list.

With the right ingredients tailored to the structure, the hair can be rebuilt and cared for from the inside out.

Even if straighteners and hair ties are not necessarily the best for our hair, we still don't want to do without them. And luckily we don't have to:

With hair ties, a coated version should definitely be bought. For example with velvet or silk. Also looks stylish! Especially fine hair is sensitive to tight hair ties. And: It is essential to avoid braids on wet hair.

Straighteners and curling irons remove moisture from the hair, which of course is not necessarily beneficial for brittle hair. This is why Jesús Rodriguez advises: "Always choose tools with adjustable temperatures for straightening irons and curling irons. The degree of heat should be adapted to the hair structure, that is, choose the lowest possible temperature for fine, brittle hair. Use a diffuser for curly hair."

Unfortunately, fine, dry, curly, and stubborn hair are more likely to break off. Therefore caution is advised especially here. Because once the hair is broken, unfortunately only cutting it off helps …
