Hair forks: how to get rid of them?

Nobody escapes it (or almost)! Split ends are the result of dry, damaged hair and are synonymous with unhealthy hair. How to overcome ? We tell you everything.

Forks, that scourge! Hair that splits into two parts (if not more) on the tips? Difficult to escape the forks, and the reason is quite simple since the causes are multiple and numerous. Among these, we include in particular the natural wear and tear of the hair, a dehydrated hair fiber, a lack of care … Split ends can also appear following too much heat from a tool used on the hair. Understand that devices such as straighteners or curling irons are the enemies of our beautiful hair. But that's not all ! As Gianni Coppa, founder of the Parisian salon R'factory, explains, "a split end can also be the result of hair that is not cut regularly enough".

How to avoid forks?

Avoiding forks at the tips is almost impossible. However, it is largely conceivable to limit their appearance. And for this, you have to follow a precise care routine (with well-chosen products such as shampoo, conditioner, mask, oil, serum, etc.) very diligently. And if there are three points to remember and not to overlook, they are these:

Cut your split hair regularly

When the forks are present, it is too late to "glue them back". The one and only way to get rid of its damaged and split ends is to cut them off. It's simple, radical and effective! Gianni Coppa recommends cutting his forks, at least, two to three times a year; and ideally, to make sure you always have perfectly healthy hair, every 2/3 months, at regular intervals.

Hydrate and nourish split ends

Taking care of your hair on a daily basis is essential if we want to prevent split ends and avoid them. To do this, after each shampoo, consider alternately using a conditioner and a mask. Nothing like it for perfectly healthy hair. People with split hair mistreated by heating devices (straighteners, curling irons, etc.) or by repetitive streaks and coloring should choose restorative treatments. For split ends of a rather dry nature, prefer products with a nourishing formula, enriched with natural oil for example.

Finally, every evening, after brushing them, consider applying a hair oil to the split ends which will be absorbed overnight. A treatment (to choose in oil or in serum for the day) that you can also use, in addition, in the morning – always in very small quantity to avoid the effect "greasy hair".

Perform in-depth treatments at your hairdresser

To prevent split ends at the ends and hydrate his hair, Gianni Coppa recommends performing hair botox once or twice a year (all you need to know about hair botox). A treatment composed mainly of keratin and hyaluronic acid which will repair in depth and replenish the hair fiber. As a bonus, this technique offers a very beautiful shine; in short, dream hair!
