Hardly anything has to withstand as much strain as the hair of the biggest stars. With so much hair styling and heat, it’s no wonder that your hair quickly looks dry and brittle. It’s all the more impressive that you can currently see hair on the red carpets that shines so beautifully, as if it were out of this world. The current trend look is called “glossy hair” and, especially when paired with a middle parting, it is currently hard to imagine celebrity glamor events without it. Star stylists have now revealed some tricks on how the popular “glossy hair” can be achieved – and how you can easily do it at home away from the red carpet and without a stylist.

Glossy Hair – this is how you can create an eye-catching red carpet look for your hair

Professional trick #1: Proper care

The big secret behind smooth, shiny hair is actually pure physics: a rough surface can only reflect a small amount of light and therefore appears rather dull. Conversely, a smooth, supple surface offers more space for light reflections and therefore appears more intense and multi-faceted. The smoother and healthier each individual hair is, the more the “glossy” effect appears. Preparation begins with the right care – moisture is the be-all and end-all. Even in the shower, it’s worth using two different shampoos: a cleansing one for the scalp and a moisturizing one for lengths and dry ends. This trick is especially important for long and brittle hair, says celebrity stylist Jen Atkin, who looks after the hair of Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, among others. A rich conditioner and an oil tailored to the hair structure can also help to achieve a shiny finish.

Professional trick No. 2: The right styling

The glossy effect is easiest to achieve with straight hair. Here it is advisable to focus on targeted styling, because air-dried hair tends to frizz and have natural waves that reflect little shine. In order to protect your hair’s health, you should not use too much heat when styling and should blow-dry gently using a round brush. When you finish blow-drying with cold air, the cuticle closes and the hair immediately looks much smoother. As an additive for even more hair glow, you can use a heat brush or straightener to enhance the shine. Hair professional and celebrity favorite Sam McKnight also swears by smoothing hair pastes to achieve the ultimate glossy look.

Pro trick #3: The right color

Not only the structure, but also the color of the hair can contribute to how shiny and supple the hair is perceived. With intense color brilliance, the effect is significantly enhanced. It’s worth trying out semi-permanently colored hair gloss. The textures are based on a very rich care component and provide the hair with deep moisture, which contributes to regeneration. In addition, such glosses coat the hair with shine-enhancing color pigments and can therefore ensure that your own hair color is intensified and therefore reflects more light.

Professional trick no. 4: The hack for in between

If you need something quick, just grab the brush! This trick sounds way too easy to be true, but it’s a true hairstyling hero. Jen Atkins recommends a beard brush with thick bristles. This means that frizz can be eliminated quickly and effortlessly in everyday life. The brush is sprayed with a strong holding hairspray and combed through the hair to create it and achieve the stylish glossy look.
