Dry the hair with warm blow-dryer air: there are certainly more pleasant things in summer. So why not leave the house with slightly damp hair? Air-drying not only saves time and energy, but is also healthier for the hair.
Excessive sun exposure, chlorine and constant immersion in the water strain the hair in summer. Let him take a break. And it's easy to do without a hair dryer, flat iron and curling iron. Especially since an air-dried mane with the right tricks can look just as good as a blow-dry from the hairdresser.
Curly hair needs moisture
Anyone who has natural curls knows this: high humidity causes the hair to curl, nothing looks the way it should and the curls are not properly defined. Already when washing, the curls should be supplied with plenty of moisture with conditioner or a hair mask. Because curly hair is naturally drier and needs a lot of moisture, especially in summer.
After washing, the hair should then be kneaded overhead with a towel – preferably from the tips upwards. Instead of a towel, you can also use a cotton t-shirt, because the structure of a towel can cause the hair to break. Then knead a generous amount of hair oil into the curls. This way you trap the moisture and avoid frizz. Then just let the air work. To keep the curls as long as possible, it is recommended for hot summer nights to wrap the hair in a silk wrap overnight.
Afro hair: this is how you let it air dry
Healthy hair is born in the shower: this also applies to Afro hair. If you want to let them air dry, you should use a shampoo that is free of sulfates, because these dry out the hair. Afterwards, a moisturizing conditioner is essential. Every now and then the hair can only be washed with conditioner and the shampoo left out. Then use a microfiber towel instead of a terry towel to gently pat it dry – gently squeeze from the tips upwards.
Then split the hair into several sections – this way they dry faster. For the care you should follow the L.O.C.-method: Leave In, oil, cream. First massage a leave-in conditioner into the towel-dried, split hair, then use a hair oil to trap the moisture in the conditioner and then shape and define the curls with a styling cream.
Let wavy hair air dry
Wavy hair is extremely capricious: sometimes it falls beautifully in soft, even waves, sometimes it sticks out in all directions and you want to grab the straightener straight away. That's enough of that. After shampooing, pat dry gently with a towel, apply combing spray or leave-in conditioner to your hair, then comb through with a wide-toothed curling comb.
To strengthen the waves, you can put some sea salt spray in your hair – this strengthens the wave, similar to sea water. Moisturize the hair with lighter oil for lighter waves. For an even definition, divide the hair into several sections and braid loose. Just before the hair is completely dry, open the braids.
Give volume to straight hair
Straight hair has it a little easier than curly or wavy. But if you let them air dry, the desired volume is often missing. In order to conjure up a voluminous mane from spaghetti-like hair, you should first wash your hair with volume shampoo. Straight hair is usually naturally blessed with more moisture, so you should not use a conditioner every time you wash your hair, because it weighs down the hair. Rather only from time to time and as needed.
After shampooing, lightly dry with a towel, then comb through with a wide-toothed comb or wet brush. Before leaving the house, it is essential to spray on a volume-giving spray and add a little hair oil to the tips. When the hair is dry, shake it upside down – done!
