the Source Engine 2, engine used in Half-Life: Alyx offers to modders around the world to give free rein to their imaginations by reworking the original game to bring cosmetic changes, new weapons and new surroundings. The most ambitious even tackle the reproduction of video games, including a scenario, dubbing, complete environments and even various assets, the possibilities are endless and encouraged by Valve. The last mod having made a lot of noise is Return To Rapture franchise based BioShock.
the workshop of Steam is very rich in content and HLA is not left out. Proof, to date there are hundreds of mods allowing you to customize the title and the game experience from top to bottom. The modder TheBoxTrot got down to the task of reproducing that of a famous puzzle game, namely Portal !
Currently, there are many mods dedicated and packsassets to redesign the original game scenery elements, textures, as well as objects around the universe of Portal. Only the few experiences that we were able to test so far do not include what made the series so successful i.e. its portals. The developer has managed to take the gaming experience to a whole new level by giving us this possibility. And it must be said that the task must not have been easy, because the game engine Source 2 is very different from its predecessor.
At any rate, we find at present two maps : Test_Chamber_01 & Test_chamber_02. the modder integrated the portal gun, the voice of our dear Glados, our good old cube and the franchise environments, to glimpse the future possibilities. the mod is not free from flaws and is still in development. Portals do not yet display the desired depth effect, and the cube sometimes does as it pleases. But the Proof of concept is there and we can only imagine a very soon release of a finalized version.
