So far, Halle Berry and her ex Olivier Martinez share custody of their son. But that is apparently about to change.

They had been separated for many years, and in the summer of 2023 all divorce issues were actually settled. But Halle Berry (58) is apparently not happy with the current situation with her ex-husband Olivier Martinez (58) and their son Maceo (10). Berry is now said to have applied for sole custody in court, as the US celebrity portal “TMZ” reports, citing available documents.

“Turbulent and harmful behavior” by Olivier Martinez?

Berry claims that Martinez displays “turbulent and harmful behavior.” The boy’s father refuses to address the child’s learning problems. The French actor is even an obstacle when it comes to helping Maceo. The 58-year-old refused to hire a tutor because it would interfere with the child’s soccer training. The actress also claims in the documents that the child becomes angry and combative after spending a long time with his father.

An anonymous source recently in an interview with the US magazine “People”that things have been tense between the parents for a while and that Berry and Martinez simply have different approaches. “They have very different parenting styles,” said the source. Raising the child together is “not easy,” but they both love their son. The boy was said to be a “very focused student.”

Dispute continues years after separation

Before the magazine had reportedthat Berry wanted to force her ex to stick to a custody agreement by filing a court motion. The two had agreed to “co-parenting therapy” to “resolve disputes and conflicts between them,” but Martinez had failed to attend and had “unilaterally ended the whole thing.” The court in charge had rejected the motion.

Berry and Martinez were a couple from 2010 to 2015. After about two years of marriage, they filed for divorce. In December 2016, a judge ruled that Berry and Martinez were legally single. However, the ex-partners continued to negotiate custody and child support. According to media reports, they finally came to an agreement in August 2023. At that time, it was determined that they would share custody and Berry agreed to pay Martinez $8,000 a month in child support.
