Halloween: scary fun on TV and streaming

Halloween is best celebrated at home in front of the television on the weekend. These films and series can be seen on TV and in streaming.

Halloween on TV

Young Halloween fans get their money's worth with the Pixar animated film "Coco – Livelier Than Life" (8:15 pm, Sat.1). The film is dedicated to the Mexican Day of the Dead: 12-year-old Miguel Rivera arrives in the world of the dead on Día de los Muertos and meets his ancestors – and his great role model, the singer Ernesto de la Cruz.

In the horror comedy "Die Addams Family" (8:15 pm, Super RTL), a film adaptation of the 60s series, a shadow hangs over the castle of the extended Addams family: Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) returns completely changed after his disappearance . He is a character in a cunning plot that is supposed to rob the family of their wealth. Super RTL will then show the sequel "The Addams Family in Crazy Tradition" (10:15 pm).

In "Dark Shadows" (10:25 pm, Sat.1) by director Tim Burton, the witch Angelique (Eva Green) is up to mischief and transforms Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) into a vampire. Buried alive, he only wakes up 200 years later and has to find his way around in the 1970s. At 12:35 am (Sat.1), the Depp-Burton duo comes back to play: In "Sleepy Hollow" Constable Crane (Depp) has to investigate a series of murders. Allegedly a headless rider is murdering around the area.

"Friday the 13th." (11:30 p.m., ProSieben) is the twelfth part of the horror film series and retells the story of the main character Jason Voorhees. Whitney, Clay, Mike, Jenna and Trent want to spend a weekend in nature and go to old Camp Crystal Lake. After a short time, they notice that they are being watched. A mysterious man appears in the bush with a machete who threatens her. A cruel hunt for life and death begins.

"Saw V" (1:05 ​​am, ProSieben) is waiting for all horror fans at a later hour. The jigsaw killer has been dead for a while. But the psychopath's student, Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor), wants to continue the bloody legacy. Hoffman locks Ashley, Luba, Brit, Charles and Mallick in a typical jigsaw experiment.

Halloween streaming

The streaming services offer a range of shockers and horror classics. Especially in October, they once again provided for Halloween supplies. This includes the horror comedy "Hubie Halloween" (on Netflix since October 7th). Hubie (Adam Sandler) is one of the dumb but kind-hearted eccentrics in his hometown Salem. When people disappear on Halloween and the police don't believe him, he's the only one who can protect his city.

In the Polish horror film "Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight" (on Netflix since October 28), young people are supposed to get their smartphone addiction under control during a trip to the woods. But while the participants believe that a missing WiFi signal is their biggest problem, the real monsters are preparing to attack in the undergrowth. In the end, the youngsters have to fight to survive.

The horror series "Spuk in Bly Manor" (since October 9 on Netflix) is the sequel to "Spuk in Hill House" (2018), from which several leading actors are returning. However, there is no substantive connection between the two stories. A rehearsal wedding dinner is being held in a castle in Northern California. A gray-haired woman begins to tell a ghost story about an au pair who is confronted with eerie events in his new job.

"Truth Seekers" has been available on Amazon Prime since this Friday (October 30th). Dave (Simon Pegg) and Gus (Nick Frost) work full-time at Smyle, a telecommunications company. But laying internet lines is too boring for them. In their spare time, they investigate supernatural events with their self-made ghost hunter gear. They stream their eerie adventures on the Internet, but soon they encounter a conspiracy that could endanger all of humanity.

Amazon has a special offer for all horror fans in store: Horror veteran Jason Blum will produce eight horror films with his production company Blumhouse Productions. Four of the exclusive horror films are available this year, with the rest to follow in 2021. In "Black Box" (since October 6th) a single father undergoes an experimental treatment.
