The new educational campus now combines all facilities for the children in the Flachgau municipality in one central location. Now the next major project is waiting.
The education campus is a real gem,” says Mayor Johannes Ebner (ÖVP). Thanks to the new building in the center of the community, the kindergarten and elementary school are now in the same location. The kindergarten was officially opened just over a week ago. This cost nine million euros and offers space for 14 groups. 13 of them are currently in use. 193 children of the community are cared for in these. Exactly as many – including 193 children – go to elementary school. With the campus, there is no longer any other location for childcare. “In the long term, it’s also cheaper to maintain,” says the local manager, who is already working on the next project. The fire brigade should move to a new location by 2024 at the latest. Hallwang has already acquired a plot of land right next to the sports grounds. The current location would then be free for the expansion of the building yard. There are currently 120 members of the volunteer fire brigade in the town of 4,261 inhabitants. That should only be moderate in the future. “Building land is rather scarce here,” says Ebner. However, there will be a larger project. 66 residential units will be built in the center. The municipality has secured the right to award contracts for 22 subsidized apartments. Goal: Maintaining the quality of life in the municipality What is important to the mayor and the population: the rural flair. “With the proximity to the city of Salzburg, this provides a lot of quality of life. Our character with many functioning farms must therefore be preserved,” says Ebner, who runs a farm in the community himself.
