Halo Infinite was delayed for a year, because the devs weren’t ‘proud’ of it


Announced at E3 2018 and shown more in 2019, Halo Infinite was to be the head of the gondola accompanying the launch of the Xbox Series in late 2020. However, the title has been postponed for a year, as expected, in particular because of the gameplay which has been strongly criticized by the community. But this postponement would also have been requested by the developers of 343 Industries, as explained by Bonnie Ross, general manager, in an interview with the Washington Post.

According to his words, as early as January 2020, the development team realized that Halo Infinite had some issues, and had fallen behind. The pandemic has obviously not helped to make up for lost time, what prompted 343 Industries to agree with Xbox boss Phil Spencer to postpone Halo Infinitewhich was ” an incredibly painful decision “.

It would have been great for Halo to be here (with the release of the Xbox Series [N.D.L.R.]), but it wasn’t the right thing for Infinite and it wasn’t the right thing for the team.

Thanks to the additional year of development, the teams were able to review certain parts of the game, in particular according to the feedback of the testers, who were a great help. While the experience isn’t perfect, in part due to the lack of co-op (which has lagged yet again), Halo Infinite has been pretty well received, especially since multiplayer is available for free, on Steam.
