Halo: what is the series inspired by the cult video game about?

Masterchief is about to land on the small screens with, this April 28, the broadcast of the first two episodes of the Halo series on Canal+. Télé Star tells you everything you need to know about this highly anticipated adaptation.

A pivotal moment for video game fans, the Halo series, directly adapted from Microsoft’s eponymous video game, will be broadcast from this Thursday, April 28 on Canal+. While controller fans know a little about what it’s all about, that doesn’t mean the Halo series is just for connoisseurs. A mix of action and science fiction, the production developed by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane clearly has something to appeal to series fans. So Halo, what is it exactly ? The story takes place in the future, in 2552, when humanity is at war with aliens. The two sides are clear: humans on one side, who have colonized space and are under the command of the United Earth Government and United Nations Space Command, and the Covenant Alliance on the other.

Beneath this classic pitch lies fascinating intricacies about humanity’s place in the universe and the beliefs of other species. The Covenant Alliance indeed brings together several species of extraterrestrials who, as often happens in such scenarios, believe that the human race is not worthy of surviving. Series Halo therefore tells the war between humanity and the Covenant with, at the heart of this fight, super soldiers called Spartans. The main character of the series turns out to be a Spartan, Major John-117, who discovers new technology that does not appear to belong to the Covenant. And this mysterious technology, which activated at John’s touch, could be the key to a much bigger issue…

Halo has already been renewed for a season 2

If the plot may seem complicated by all the elements that come into play, the fact that Halo is a video game means that its didactic aspect will help the viewer to discover all the aspects of this complex world little by little. On the casting side, it’s Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black, The Wire, American Gods…) who will play Major John-117. artificial intelligence Cortana will be played by Jen Taylor, who already plays her in the video game series. Halo. Natasha McElhone, Yerin Ha, Charlie Murphy, Shabana Azmi and even Bokeem Woodbine are also part of the cast. Season 1 is made up of 9 episodes and the series has already been renewed for a season 2. Broadcast on Canal+ will be until May 19, with two episodes per evening and three episodes on May 19 to end the season. .
