Emmanuel Macron is one of the last heads of state to visit Israel. He is due to meet Benjamin Netanyahu this Tuesday and then the families of the hostages and the missing Franco-Israeli. On site, in Tel Aviv, what do people say about this visit?

The French president’s visit did not make headlines in Israel because it was long overdue. The American president, the German chancellor, the British prime minister and even the Italian prime minister and the Dutch prime minister have already visited Tel Aviv before the French president.

Emmanuel Macron was late in making this trip, which is criticized by a large part of the Israeli political class, who also do not understand the pro-Palestinian demonstrations in France.

A war of “civilization against barbarism”

Many in Israel have the feeling that France has not appreciated the trauma of the massacres of October 7. The Israeli discourse is always the same with foreign leaders: it is a war of “civilization against barbarism”.

This is the speech that Benjamin Netanyahu will give to Emmanuel Macron who hopes that the whole world will unite with Israel against Hamas. The war cabinet formed by Benjamin Netanyahu is in any case expecting a very firm speech from the French president to condemn terrorism and support Israel.
