Hamas says it holds Israeli officer who was declared dead

CAIRO, May 23 (Reuters) – The armed wing of Hamas announced on Thursday that it was holding an Israeli army officer captured and wounded during the attack on October 7, whom the IDF declared dead on December 2.

The Al-Qassam Brigades specify that it is Colonel Asaf Hamami, 41 years old, commander of the southern brigade of the Gaza division.

The organization provides no proof of its claims and does not say whether the officer is still alive. (Report by Nidal Al-Mughrabi, French version Sophie Louet, edited by)
