Three-time Olympic hammer throw champion Anita Wlodarczyk caught a car thief and injured herself. The man tried to steal her car. «I arrested the thief single-handedly and handed him over to the police. Unfortunately, I paid for it with a muscle injury, »wrote the 36-year-old on Instagram. She will therefore be operated on on Monday. The exact nature of the injury was not clear from the post.

Wlodarczyk, who last year in Tokyo was the first athlete to win Olympic gold three times in a row in one discipline, is considering whether she will later switch from the hammer throw ring to another. “After my career, I think I’ll fight like our champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in MMA or UFC because the perpetrator was injured,” wrote the 36-year-old, not entirely serious.

The 36-year-old wants to win her fifth world championship title at the World Championships in Oregon/USA from July 15th to 24th. It remains to be seen whether she will be fit again by then.
