Hammer ticket for record champions
Bayern have to go to Gladbach in the cup
Ronald Rauhe, the two-time gold medal winner in a canoe, proves a lucky hand at the DFB Cup draw. He sends Bayern Munich to Mönchengladbach for a hit, defending champion Dortmund receives Ingolstadt. Leipzig has to go to Babelsberg.
The Bundesliga classic Borussia Mönchengladbach against Bayern Munich is the top game in the second round of the DFB Cup. The teams met at the start of the Bundesliga. The game ended 1: 1 in mid-August. Defending champion Borussia Dortmund caught a lot of luck with their home game against second division club FC Ingolstadt. This was the result of the draw in the ARD sports show. Olympic canoeing champion Ronald Rauhe also brought runner-up and cup finalist RB Leipzig an eastern duel at the regional league club SV Babelsberg 03, in which the former Leipzig captain Daniel Frahn has been under contract for some time. The games of the second round will take place on October 26th and 27th.
Fourth division SC Preußen Münster receives Hertha BSC. Münster continued despite the 3-1 first round defeat against VfL Wolfsburg. The game was subsequently rated for the regional league team because VfL head coach Mark van Bommel substituted six instead of the allowed five players in the game on August 8th. The appeal of the Champions League starter to the DFB Federal Court was unsuccessful.
Of 18 Bundesliga clubs, 15 made it into the second round – only VfL Wolfsburg, promoted Greuther Fürth (at fourth division Babelsberg) and Eintracht Frankfurt (at third division club SV Waldhof Mannheim) were eliminated.
