Hana Nitsche: This is how she likes to spend her little time off

Model Hana Nitsche lives with her family in L.A. The corona pandemic makes it difficult for her to return to work after the birth of her daughter.

It should have been her little comeback in Germany – but because of Corona, Hana Nitsche (34) is still stuck in her adopted US home Los Angeles. The model should actually be present at the "Happy Mami & Papi Day" of Kaufland and FamilienMomente in Hamburg and present a limited-edition cosmetic tissue box designed by her. The strict exit and entry regulations in the USA due to the pandemic thwarted her plans. "I was really happy to be back in Germany and to work," said the 34-year-old. Instead, the mother of a two-year-old daughter was virtually connected to the event.

Actress and influencer Isabell Horn (36) and Nina Schwaiger alias YouTuber PelicanBay also presented facial tissue boxes they designed themselves. Since the two live in Germany, they could be there personally, as well as "Let's Dance" star and Mama Motsi Mabuse (39). The parents and reality TV stars Daniela Katzenberger (33) and Lucas Cordalis (53) were connected from their adopted home Mallorca.

In an interview with the news agency spot on news, Hana Nitsche tells, among other things, what influence the corona pandemic is having on her career not only at this event, but in general. She also reveals what makes her and daughter Aliya really happy.

How sad are you that you cannot be there in person today?

Hana Nitsche: I was really looking forward to the "Happy Mommy & Daddy Day". To be able to be back in Germany, to work again. It's a shame that I can't be there because of all the travel restrictions and it annoys me a lot. I would have loved to see the box in the store.

But I still had a lot of fun not being there virtually – even if I had to get up really early for that (laughs). But that's what you're used to as a mom. Kaufland kindly also sent me some of the boxes here in Los Angeles. At least I can try out the instructions on the box with Aliya together.

How difficult is the corona crisis making your comeback in the model business?

Nitsche: It is currently very difficult to be able to work normally again. Unfortunately, traveling is part of my job. I can't go on many trips at the moment because many countries, especially the USA, have tightened their entry and exit regulations. That really bothered me and changed all my plans and influenced a lot of my bookings. Unfortunately, some of my jobs are no longer available.

Are you worried that you will no longer be able to build on your successful career?

Nitsche: Of course you think about it, but at the moment it is difficult for everyone. You just hope for the best and that a little more normalcy will return.

How much do you miss working as a model again?

Nitsche: As nice as it is to be at home with Aliya, I miss work a little. I enjoyed the job a lot and also fulfilled me a little. I had a lot of great jobs that I just enjoyed doing.

What big projects did you have planned this year?

Nitsche: Many big events will be canceled. There were some things to do in Germany that I can't do right now. Perhaps virtual participation in events like today will become the "New Normal" and a situation that we simply have to get used to. Even though I have been living in the USA for a few years now, Germany remains my main market. I am absolutely delighted that many German companies are thinking of me.

Even such simple things as going to auditions are currently not available for me. My modeling agency is in New York, I live in California. Even traveling from state to state within the US is currently not that easy. You have to plan for the quarantine. And since I have a little daughter, from whom I would be separated for several days, with a constant risk of illness, one weighs up what is worthwhile in terms of effort.

This gives you more time with your daughter. How did Aliya change your life?

Nitsche: Aliya completely turned my life upside down, but also enriched it a lot. She is the love of my life and makes me laugh a lot. Everything is now based on it, many things no longer work as they did before, you have to plan more. But it's okay too. I like to be mom and slowly I have my flow with her and can now link more and more things together again. I always find my way back to my old self.

What does the perfect day with your daughter look like for you?

Nitsche: We always did a lot before the Corona crisis. We went on small trips, met with playgroups, went to playgrounds or arcades a lot. Now we have picnics in nature, meet the grandparents or play with the neighbors' children. Aliya loves the sea, so we go for a lot of walks or just play in the garden. She is a very active kid and I run after her all day. With her it will definitely not be boring and every day is different.

The word "perfect" doesn't really exist in mom's everyday life, especially with the current situation. You make the best of everything, but a child's smile is simply the biggest and most beautiful thing for me and it doesn't take much. Sometimes it's the smallest and simplest things that make my little one happy. For example, a playhouse made from old cardboard boxes, a tinkered guitar from one of my cosmetic tissue boxes or the butterflies in the garden. When her eyes shine and she laughs from her heart, that's a perfect moment for me too.

Your family lives in Europe, who will help you raise your children?

Nitsche: Raising children is completely up to me. But my in-laws live nearby and come over to play once a week. In emergencies, they step in and help. Before Corona, I also had a nanny once a week, but this is currently no longer applicable, so being a mother is a full-time job.

How do you take time out from the hustle and bustle of mom?

Nitsche: Aliya now goes to pre-school half a day (comparable to kindergarten) so I have a little time for myself at least in the three hours that she is away. The time then always goes by very quickly, after all, there is always something to do: shopping, processing bookings, paperwork.

Real "me-time" is rarely seen at the moment. If I treat myself to a break, it is in the form of sports, massages or a manicure – which is not really possible because of social distancing. Therefore, it is currently more often a walk with the dogs or just lying in the garden in the sun, taking a moment, reading a book, taking a bath. Just relax a little and recharge your batteries until my little whirlwind is with me again.

Are you already thinking about a second child?

Nitsche: I would very much like to have more children. Family is just the greatest happiness for me. But that won't happen at the moment. Because in the current situation and with the uncertainty in the world, it is not the right moment for me to have another child.
