The hand lettering of numbers offers many design options. We'll give you tips and show you nice examples.

Hand lettering, the art of beautiful letters, offers a wide range of opportunities to let off steam creatively and create your own little works of art. Whether it's a self-designed greeting card, an original entry in the bullet journal or a cherished slogan, framed and hung up in the apartment – your heart just opens. In addition to letters and decorative elements, numbers also play an important role in hand lettering. As with the letters, different fonts and shapes can be implemented here: They can be fine, playful, three-dimensional or very minimalist.

You should keep this in mind with the numbers

  • To learn hand lettering numbers, you can trace them out with bread paper at the beginning and then trace them
  • Auxiliary lines or a grid also help you draw
  • Instead of drawing the numbers in one go, take it easy and work your way up line by line
  • If you have several digits, make sure that the spacing and widths and heights are the same – unless it is desired as a stylistic device
  • Pay attention to the upstroke (little pressure) and downstroke (a lot of pressure) when lettering
  • Do you want z. B. flourishes on the number, use two pens for this: one with a thin lead and a wider tip for the thicker part of the number

Bulbous shapes

The shapes of the numbers are great to play with: Instead of simply coloring in the larger areas, there is space for hearts, butterflies and flowers.
