Hangar 13: more layoffs at the developer of Mafia III

Shed 13 will not have convinced many people with Mafia IIIand since the game was released in 2016, the studio has a series of setbacks, with several waves of layoffs, the fault in particular of the cancellation of the Project Volt and therefore the loss of several tens of millions of dollars. And it’s not over.

Earlier this month, Haden Blackman handed over to Nick Baynes as president of Shed 13and the latter has just organized a meeting to lay off about fifty employees in the Novato branchin California, but also other people in the other branches of Shed 13notably in Brighton, England. Novato’s premises have so far had 87 peoplewhich is to say that it will make empty offices, but 2K Games is reassuring and says that this is just a transition period for his development studio, and that it will help them find job opportunities elsewhere.

Officially we don’t know what is working on Shed 13but rumors suggest that a prequel to the trilogy Mafia would be in development in Brighton, with theUnreal Engine 5 and who would take us to Italy. A Top Spin 5 will also be under construction, Shed 13 having absorbed 2K Czechdeveloper of the latest installment, and employees regularly help make several other games 2K Games and Take-Two Interactive. Shed 13 shone as a reminder in 2020 with Mafia: Definitive Editionsold €18.99 on Gamesplanet.
