Hanging out – Branches on the trailer brought racing cyclists to fall

The load safety of this tractor haul was probably not entirely given: In the Innviertel, branches were hanging from a tractor trailer and brushed against a cyclist, who fell badly.

A 63-year-old from the Innviertel region rode his racing bike in a group of eight cyclists from Kirchdorf am Inn in the direction of Obernberg on Saturday at around 1.40 p.m. in the municipality of Obernberg. Abei, the group met the tractor of a German (34) who had loaded branches on the trailer. In the Am Regengeissl area, the 34-year-old steered the tractor to the middle of the lane in order to turn into the courtyard entrance there. According to witnesses, the branches protruded about a meter laterally beyond the trailer, and the oncoming racing cyclists were struck by them. The 63-year-old, who was last in the group, was hit by the branches in such a way that he fell. He was injured to an unspecified degree and taken to Braunau Hospital.
