Hanouna-Boyard case: “We touched his post”, the deputy is jubilant after a historic decision against C8

Three months after the heated altercation punctuated by bird names between Cyril Hanouna and Louis Boyard on the Touche plateau not at my post, Arcom has decided to impose a fine of 3.5 million euros on the C8 channel . A decision that made the member exult.

The images made the rounds of the media and social networks. On November 10, Cyril Hanouna and Louis Boyard had a heated altercation live, on the set of the program Touche pas à mon poste. The host of the daily C8 went so far as to insult the deputy, using terms like “jester” or “shut the fuck up”. One thing that the politician did not miss, deciding to initiate legal proceedings against the C8 channel. And the French public authority for the regulation of audiovisual communication has just delivered its verdict.

In a press release published this Thursday, February 9, Arcom announced its decision to impose a record fine of 3.5 million euros on the C8 channel. “The Arcom indeed considered that these remarks violated the rights of the guest, the respect of his honor and his reputation (…) It also considered that this sequence reflected a lack of knowledge by the publisher of its obligation to control the antenna”, reads the official statement, which also states that the channel of the Canal group has been given formal notice.

The C8 channel fined 3.5 million euros

The Arcom also has “consider that the guest had been explicitly prevented from expressing a critical point of view on set with regard to a shareholder of the Canal+ group, to which the C8 television service belongs”thus pointing to a non-independence of information.

Louis Boyard therefore won his standoff against Cyril Hanouna, a fact that he hastened to comment on his Twitter account. “The C8 channel fined 3.5 million euros. The billionaire Bolloré wanted to censor me. We touched on his post”he published, even offering himself a little pun on the name of the show.
