Hape Kerkeling (58) apparently doesn’t value jackets and pocket squares on vacation, as he presents in his Vox travel series “Hape and the 7 Dwarf States”: “If I had to think so much about my outfit, where would it be? Because the relaxation remains? On vacation, it’s just as impossible for me to walk around as Angela Merkel,” reveals the entertainer in the “Gala” interview.

Hape Kerkeling is “more of an amateur researcher than a tourist”

For the 58-year-old, who can now be seen in the sequel to the cult film “Club Las Piranjas”, vacation means above all: “Seeing, experiencing, tasting, smelling new things,” as he continues. “I’m more of an amateur researcher than a tourist.” A week on the beach would be “much too boring” for him today. Every trip is worth it, says Kerkeling in the “Gala” interview. During the pandemic, he and his husband “quickly went on vacation from the Rhineland to the Bergisches Land.” It was great, he enthuses: “Good food, beautiful landscapes, the natives are super nice, and everyone speaks some German.”

“Club Las Piranjas” continues

On October 19th, Hape Kerkeling’s mini-series “Club Las Piranjas” starts on RTL+ as a sequel to the film of the same name from the 90s. In it he once again plays the leading role of the animator Edwin Öttel. Angelika Milster (71) is back as his colleague Biggi Jakobs, Judy Winter (79) as club director Dr. Renate Wenger.

New additions include Ben Münchow (32) as Edwin’s son Björn and Trang Le Hong (36) as Björn’s fiancée Lani. Cordula Stratmann (59), Benno Fürmann (51), Rick Kavanian (52) and Andrea Sawatzki (60) also play roles.

The plot: According to the broadcaster, ex-animator Edwin Öttel is “on a secret mission in the holiday paradise of Mauritius”: If he prevents his son Björn’s wedding, he will inherit half of the Las Piranjas club, which is managed by his offspring…
