Adam Sandler is living the dream: Not only was he the highest-earning actor of 2023, he is also free to choose his projects and usually chooses films that give him and his family a free trip around the world.
Sandler will probably stay in the USA for his next project, but he will make his fans very happy. “Happy Gilmore”, one of Sandler’s first cinema successes, is finally getting a sequel after almost 20 years.

In a radio interview with 92.3 The Fan, Christopher McDonald talked a little about the matter. The actor, who played the antagonist Shooter McGavin in “Happy Gilmore”, was recently informed by Sandler himself about the planned sequel.
I saw Adam about two weeks ago and he said, ‘McDonald, you’re going to like this. He showed me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2 […] and I thought, ‘Wow, that would be great’. So it’s a work in progress. Fans, demand it, damn it!

The fact that Sandler is working on the script doesn’t automatically mean that Happy Gilmore 2 will be made. Sandler now has an exclusive deal with Netflix, but “Happy Gilmore” was a Universal production. The film studio and the streaming service would still have to come to an agreement here so that Happy can demonstrate his unorthodox methods on the golf course again.
