“Happy Holidays to all”: before Christmas, Emmanuel Macron calls for “a preventive test to reassure”

While Omicron is on the verge of spoiling the end-of-year celebrations, the head of state sent his wishes to the French on the eve of Christmas Eve. “Happy Holidays to all”, wrote Emmanuel Macron in a message published this Thursday morning on Twitter. Before reminding them that these family moments will once again be marked by the presence of Covid-19. “To those who will have the joy of being together with their family for Christmas: barrier gestures, a preventive test to reassure, and in the event of symptoms, we isolate ourselves, we alert”, he warned.

The President of the Republic also sent a message of support to the nursing staff. “To those mobilized to treat and protect us: thank you”, he continued. Before adding: “Let’s take care of each other.”

The executive warned on Wednesday that the Omicron variant could become the majority between Christmas and New Year in France. According to Public Health France, 84,272 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed on Wednesday, and pressure continues to mount on critical care services which have 3,147 patients against 3,096 on Tuesday, with 322 new admissions.
