Harald Schmidt is back! Together with four other comedians, he prepares inexperienced celebrities for a stand-up appearance for Amazon.

Since the end of the “Harald Schmidt Show”, which trickled out on the pay-TV channel Sky in 2014, the entertainer has been making himself rather rare on television. Only occasionally can he be seen together with the left-wing politician Gregor Gysi (73) on n-tv. Between 2009 and 2020 he played cruise director Oskar Schifferle on the ZDF “Traumschiff”. But now Harald Schmidt (64) is returning to the screen for a new show. In “One Mic Stand” he will coach prominent would-be comedians for Amazon Prime Video.

The concept for “One Mic Stand”, which is supposed to inherit the successful comedy show “LOL: Last One Laughing” on Amazon: Five celebrities without stand-up experience let five experienced comedians make them fit for an appearance. Not only the result is shown, but also the way to get there.

“One Mic Stand”: These are the comedy teachers

In addition to Harald Schmidt, the following are confirmed as humor teachers: the Swiss comedian Hazel Brugger (27), her Bavarian colleague Michael Mittermeier (55) and the winner of the first “LOL” season Torsten Sträter (55).

The presenter of the five-part show is Tedros “Teddy” Teclebrhan (38). The finalist of the first “LOL” round also takes a celebrity under his wing.

Amazon has not yet announced the stars who want to become comedians. The adaptation of an Indian format is scheduled to start in spring 2022.
