The Crafty XR LTD is the latest creation from Spanish manufacturer Mondraker. For the occasion, this very high-end electric mountain bike is equipped with the latest generation Bosch motor, the famous Performance Line CX Race.
At the end of September 2022, the German supplier Bosch unveiled a new version of its flagship engine: the Performance Line CX Race, tailored for electric mountain bikes and capable of reaching up to 400% assistance. The idea: to offer an even more dynamic and powerful system.
Since then, several VTTAE have set their sights on it, such as the Simplon Rapcon Pmax and the Orbea Wild M-LTD in its 2023 version, recently presented in the columns of Frandroid. To this shortlist is added a new kid: the Crafty XR LTD, imagined and designed by the Iberian manufacturer Mondraker.
Always more boost
Available in a limited edition, this model is actually an improved version of the Crafty XR. Its main difference therefore lies in the engine, since it embeds the famous Race version of the Performance Line CX. Bike Rumor had been able to try it earlier this year, for an overall convincing result.
The media focused in particular on the “Extentendre Boost” function, which gives the bike a strong boost once the user stops pedaling: this allows an additional distance of around two meters to be covered. On strong positive gradients, this can be practical to maintain control of the bike, while enjoying a free acceleration.

For the rest, the Crafty XR LTD is based on a definitely top-of-the-range technical sheet: a 750 Wh Bosch Powertube battery (theoretical autonomy not indicated), a Kiox 300 screen, a Crafty Stealth Air carbon frame, an Ohlins RXF suspension fork 170mm travel and an adjustable rear shock.
More than 20 kg on the scale
The 29-inch wheels are shod on Maxxis Minion tires front and rear, all complemented by four-piston hydraulic disc brakes, Sram Code RSC. All for a weight of 23.2 kg, which is all in all suitable for an electric mountain bike, without being a featherweight either.
Available in four sizes, the Mondraker Crafty Carbon XR LTD will be available in a limited edition at an as yet unknown price. But we can easily imagine that its price will exceed 10,000 euros, since the Crafty XR has already reached this tidy sum.
