A worldwide disruption at Microsoft has led to the failure of numerous cloud services from the software group.
Thousands of users worldwide currently had no access to emails or video conferences.
This problem has now been rectified after several hours.
The group identified an error in a change in network configuration as the cause. As a result, services could not communicate with the cloud infrastructure or with each other. The faulty update was then reversed, as Microsoft explained on its system status page. After that, the services gradually came back online in the late morning.
Previously, users on portals such as “alle disturbances.de” reported that, among other things, the office communication platform Teams and the e-mail service Outlook were not working. Microsoft’s cloud services such as Azure are not only used by the group’s own offerings, but also by many start-ups and large companies.
