Hardy Krüger jr .: Do something for the environment with the right food

Hardy Kruger Jr. (51) has tackled current issues that concern the whole world – be it climate change, species extinction, or the environment and food. He is committed to biodiversity and is the patron of the nature film festival Naturvision. Now he embarks on his own documentary "How do I properly eat on a trip to find answers to questions such as" What can I eat? "And" What does our future look like? "

His motivation for the production of the documentary, which can be seen on YouTube from March 25th: "We have seen a lot of people, especially young ones, on the streets lately who are concerned about our climate and of course that too shouting loudly into the world that we now have to do something, "explains the 51-year-old in an interview.

The short film was produced in cooperation with Bayer AG, which according to Krüger jr. gave the actor a free hand during his trip. "I went out and talked to farmers and scientists," the 51-year-old explains the project. "I wanted honest answers to the current situation and I got them."

Less meat on the plate

Through discussions with the farmers, Krüger jr. recognized the importance of their work. "And it's not just agriculture that has to change, we also have to do our part: we have to change our diet!" Is the actor's appeal.

Hardy Kruger Jr. is a trained cook and a father of several families, which is why a healthy diet is an important topic for him. "We pay attention to seasonal, fresh and sustainable food and since the documentation I have paid even more attention to it; my meat consumption has also decreased," he explains. He emphasizes that current climate problems are caused, among other things, by cattle breeding, so everyone should minimize their meat consumption.

Learned a lot

The aim of the documentation "How do I eat properly" is to get people to deal with these issues and "to ask: What can I do personally? How could I change my diet? What contribution can I make?" , says Krüger jr. He also learned from the shooting of the documentary "that we have a very good chance of having a good future, in which we eat more consciously, are more conscious of food and our environment".

He was also very grateful for the trip he was able to take thanks to Bayer AG. "That showed me that we just have to deal with our environment much, much more intensely, that we should be much more respectful of our food, that we have to take this whole issue much more openly and seriously, but that we also have the chance to find a solution together (…) to make this situation worth living and, above all, a good future.
