A great classic from Harman Kardon, the Onyx Studio arrives in a 2022 version that is just as stylish and refined as its elders. This is an opportunity for the brand to implement very discreet but important improvements.

This premium model thus retains most of the structure of the Onyx Studio 7, but switches to a more eco-responsible philosophy.

Living room Bluetooth, recycled vision

An imposing design living room speaker measuring 268 x 302.5 x 159.5 mm and weighing 3.295 kg, the Onyx Studio 8 is a Bluetooth-only and non-connected model that operates on battery power, with an autonomy of 8 hours. The model consists of a polymer (plastic) body, mostly covered with fabric and surrounded by an aluminum ring. The latter works both as a base and a carrying handle.

Its audio architecture consists of a 120mm bass/midrange driver and two 25mm tweeters. Two microphones allow hands-free use or a call to voice assistants. Everything is powered by 50 W amplification, with a sound self-correction system depending on the room. In this regard, nothing new compared to the Onyx Studio 7, except perhaps for a few microdetails.

On the other hand, version 8 is now made entirely from recycled plastic and polyester fiber. Like the small Go 3 Eco and Clip 4 Eco speakers, the packaging is entirely made of FSC-certified paper, with soy ink-based printing.

The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 8 will be available in mid-October in three colors, for a price of 299 euros.
