Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart: Pranks get rid of boredom

A real home story: US actress Calista Flockhart, 59, tells the New York Times about life together with Hollywood star Harrison Ford, 81. She reveals that she often describes herself as a “scare monster” when they are both at home. “Because I hide behind every corner,” explains the “Ally McBeal” star. “And then when Harrison comes in, I’m like, ‘Raaah!’ And he says, ‘W-uy-aah!’ And then I die of laughter.”

But that’s not the only prank that makes the two laugh: “I stick a plastic spider in his big ice cubes in the bowl, and then he drinks them,” she gives another example. “But then two weeks later I go to bed and he’s out in Jackson and I pull the blanket away and there’s this little rubber scorpion. It’s funny,” she reveals.

Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart have known each other since 2002

The Indiana Jones star and Calista Flockhart married in 2010 after meeting eight years earlier at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards. The actress explains to The Times that one of the reasons they were able to maintain a romantic and playful relationship was because she was “really happy being at home” as a full-time mother. She adds: “I didn’t have the same dreams at the time, so we weren’t competing with each other.” Ford is the adoptive father of Flockhart’s son Liam, whom she adopted in 2001.

While she notes that the couple are “very independent of each other” in many ways and “incredibly dependent” in other areas, Flockhart also admits that their independence even scared Ford at first. “When I first met him he said, ‘You’re the most independent woman in the world and I don’t know what to think about that,'” she recalls. “I remember saying, ‘What are you talking about?’ Because I didn’t know that I was so independent.”

According to her, another reason why things are going so well between the couple is that they are both quite domestic. “We stay at home a lot and are homebodies, which is very nice,” enthuses the actress.
