The eternal Indiana Jones with a tender heart. Sunday, January 14, the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica airport hosted the twenty-ninth edition of the Critics’ Choice Awards. Thus, a shower of stars followed one another on the Californian red carpet, before taking their seats to discover the winners. And among them was Harrison Ford. Honored with a Career Achievement Award, a lifetime achievement award, the 81-year-old actor could not hide his emotion. After tenderly kissing his wife Calista Flockhart – a moment captured by the cameras present, and relayed by the Daily Mail -, the one who also received an honorary Palme d’Or in 2023 in Cannes took to the American stage to say a few words, his eyes full of tears.
“I would like to thank my lovely wife”, he began by confiding, visibly upset. And to sing his praises, while the interpreter of Alla McBeal struggles to hold back his tears: “She supports me when I need it most and I really need a lot of support.” Following this personal interlude, the interpreter of Rick Deckard in Blade Runner (directed by Ridley Scott in 1982) also wanted to thank his professional entourage: “I’m really happy to be here tonight. It’s mainly thanks to several ‘lucky’ factors that made me work with wonderful directors, writers and filmmakers. I feel extremely lucky and also grateful to all the good actors with whom I was able to work.”
France conquers Hollywood
If Harrison Ford stood out for his sincere speech and his career made up of some fifty-nine films, France also knew how to stand out from the crowd. Indeed, Netflix received the prize for best foreign series with Lupineof which Omar Sy has been the headliner for three seasons.
Without surprise, Anatomy of a fall, by Justine Triet, won the prize for best foreign film. Thus, this feature film offers itself yet another reward, after having pocketed two Golden Globes a few days ago, six statuettes at the European Film Awards in December and a Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2023. Cock-a-doodle Doo !
