Calista Flockhart clearly no longer trusts Harrison Ford’s flying skills. The Hollywood star revealed this in an interview.

Hollywood star Harrison Ford (80) discovered aviation relatively late in his life. The now 80-year-old only took flight lessons at the age of 52 – and since then has amassed an impressive collection of vintage aircraft models in which he regularly takes off. However, as Ford now revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, his wife Calista Flockhart (58) no longer climbs into the cockpit with him. “My wife no longer flies with me on classic planes – on others, she does,” said the star in an interview.

Harrison Ford: ‘I don’t want to have to recover from an accident like this again’

Flockhart’s refusal to accompany her husband on the skies stems from Ford’s near-fatal crash in Los Angeles in 2015. After an engine failure on his propeller plane built in the 1940s, the “Star Wars” star had to make an emergency landing on the green of a golf course, injuring his head badly and breaking his arm. The result was an almost month-long hospital stay.

“He doesn’t want to have to recover from such an accident again,” said Ford in an interview with the US magazine. The whole experience was “really difficult for him and his family”. Nevertheless, he had decided at the time to climb back into the cockpit relatively quickly. “I know what happened,” said the star, adding, “There was a mechanical problem with the plane that I was unaware of and couldn’t have dealt with in any way.” That’s why he returned. “That’s what happens,” Ford explained.
