In June, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan were happy about the birth of their daughter. The American people should accept her as their first “American princess”, says one expert.

After their departure as senior royals of the British royal family, Prince Harry, 37, and Duchess Meghan, 40, enjoy their family happiness in their adopted home of Montecito in the USA. In June of this year her second child, daughter Lilibet, saw the light of day and she should have a very special standing among her compatriots in the future.

Lilibet could be seen as the first “American princess”

At least that is what the royal biographer Andrew Morton believes. “I think what people haven’t really understood is that Lilibet will be the very first American princess,” he explains in an interview with Salon. After all, unlike her brother Archie, 2, who was born in Great Britain, she was born in the United States.

Where do Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have their daughter baptized?

The decision as to how Lilibet will be viewed by the American people could be made when she is baptized. It has been speculated for months whether the ceremony will take place in the adopted home of the Sussexes or in Prince Harry’s home. “There is debate about whether it will be baptized in the US or the UK,” said Morton. “Should she be baptized in the United States, then I think America will accept her as an American princess.”

While Duchess Meghan’s political ambitions are viewed with suspicion by many Royal experts as well as some US Senators, the author of “Meghan and the Unmasking of the Monarchy” also sees the great influence that the couple has. “The fact that you can go to New York and visit the mayor and governor is a sign of your international prestige,” said Andrew Morton. “And the fact that they are known by their first names, like Madonna, is also a sign of their popularity.”

So it will be exciting to see how the Sussexes build their own careers in America – far away from disclosure interviews. What role their children will play in the United States remains to be seen.
