During the film, Albus Dumbledore visits young Tom Riddle, who lives in an orphanage run by headmistress Miss Cole. Having heard that he was a young boy like no other and potentially having powers, Dumbledore comes to offer him to enter Hogwarts school.
During this scene, we can see three elements: a photo stuck in the opening of the window, pebbles arranged along the sill of said window and a notebook lying on the table, which are all the possessions of little Tom ( apart from what he stole from his comrades and hid in his closet).

These details already foreshadow the plan that Riddle will apply when he is in full possession of his magical means. The seven pebbles symbolize the horcruxes, these evil objects in which a wizard can hide part of his soul, testifying to the fact that the little boy may have already had the idea of separating his soul into 7 parts in order to become very difficult to kill.
The diary is the one that Harry will destroy throughout the second film, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. As for the photo, it represents a cliff containing a cave, the same one in which Riddle traumatized two of his comrades “who never really recovered”, according to the story that is made of it in the novel. . This cave is precisely explored at the end of the sixth film by Harry and Dumbledore in the quest to recover one of the horcruxes:

Paradoxically, the image suggests that Riddle was already planning 7 horcruxes even though the seventh, Harry Potter himself, was formed purely accidentally during Voldemort’s attempted murder of baby Harry. The latter is unaware of this, which also leads him to his downfall. Amazing, then.
