Will the "Harry Potter" series get a TV series on the streaming service HBO Max? The first exploratory talks are apparently already underway.

While fans are still dreaming of a cinematic sequel to the "Harry Potter" franchise, another format seems increasingly likely. As the US industry paper "The Hollywood Reporter" reports, the streaming service HBO Max is apparently working on a live-action TV series about the students of the Hogwarts boarding school.

Accordingly, those responsible met with various scriptwriters to talk about ideas for a possible implementation. The whole project is in an "extremely early phase," an insider told the site. So far, no author has been hired and castings for a possible cast are still a long way off.

Warner Bros., the parent company of HBO Max, is also keeping a low profile. Compared to the "Hollywood Reporter" a spokesman said on request that no "Harry Potter series" was in the works. The fans of the series launched by J. K. Rowling (55) may therefore have to wait a long time.
