The “Harry Potter” stars celebrate reunion. But JK Rowling, the creator of the novels about the magic student, should not be there.

The “Harry Potter” stars Daniel Radcliffe (32), Emma Watson (31) and Rupert Grint (33) meet with other actors from the blockbuster film series for a special TV retrospective for the 20th anniversary. The film studio Warner Bros announced on Tuesday. For the first time since the franchise closed, the stars will return to “where the magic began” it says, among other things, in the teaser on the Instagram page of the streaming service HBO Max.

An important name was missing from the list of participants in the retrospective: Joanne K. Rowling (56), the British author and creator of the novels about the student of magic. According to “The Hollywood Reporter” this could be due to the statements made in the summer of 2020 on the subject of “transgender”.

Although “Harry Potter” is still a popular franchise, Rowling’s statement that transgender people should be defined by their biological gender triggered violent reactions in the trans community, the site summarizes. With reference to “sources that are close to the project”, the journal of the film industry reports that the retrospective will focus on the making of the film, the leading actors and the team. “Rowling will appear in archival footage, however.”
