A trough of emotions – that was the third final game from the Hartberg team’s perspective. In the first set, Markus Hirczy’s men were far from getting anywhere close to the favorites, 19:25. But then the majority of fans in the Innsbruck University Hall suddenly thought they were in the wrong film: the East Styrians looked like they had been changed, defended furiously (Max Thaller saved with his foot!) and played themselves into a frenzy in attack! 25:16! Manager Markus Gaugl was almost at a loss for words. “Sensational, this half was excellent, everyone here saw what our team is capable of.” The fight against Goliath Tirol (Gaugl: “The Red Bull Salzburg in volleyball”) was for “David” Hartberg, who was one day before the match had already traveled to the West and had prepared in the hall.
