All Pixel Watch models have suffered from reduced battery life since the last update published by Google. No official fix is available yet, but two tips can help the battery stop melting like snow in the sun.
The Pixel Watch seems to be experiencing serious battery life problems since the deployment of the June 2024 security update. Since installing the patch on their smartwatch, many users have complained of a battery that no longer holds up at all the road. The problem affects both the first generation and the Pixel Watch 2.
On Reddit, some users testify that their connected watch turned off during the night due to lack of battery, even though it was at more than 50% when they went to bed. Others report that the battery seems to melt like snow in the sun after a sports session. Far from normal behavior.
Two tips to correct the Pixel Watch battery life problem
A journalist fromAndroid Police, himself a Pixel Watch 2 owner, explains that his device lost more than 80% of battery within a few hours after he stopped recording a workout. He specifies that the Always-On display is not even activated on his connected watch.
Google has not yet officially reacted. We hope that a fix will arrive very soon, without waiting for the next update which was planned. In the meantime, victims of this bug have found two temporary solutions that can resolve this autonomy problem. The first is to disable car accident detection in the watch settings. In many cases, turning off this feature helps significantly improve the battery life of Pixel Watches.
The other tip is to reset the Pixel Watch to factory settings. This is clearly not ideal, since you have to personalize your watch again after the operation, but this manipulation has allowed several users to regain acceptable autonomy. It is perhaps best not to completely re-configure your smartwatch right away, while you test whether the battery is behaving properly again, so as not to waste too much time if it has to be reset again.
