Hatice Schmidt is a social media creator, entrepreneur and bestselling author. There were some detours in the life of the 35-year-old that made her the reflective person she is today. In an interview, she tells us how she has overcome even the darkest chapters of her life.

Child poverty. A fact that Hatice Schmidt knows only too well. The daughter of Turkish immigrants writes in her book "Life is no coincidence" about the harsh conditions in her social environment. After moving to Bielefeld for her husband Sebastian, she experienced a long mental down phase. And yet the trained nurse made it through hard work on herself and on her YouTube career out of the most difficult phase of her life. Today Hatice is a successful entrepreneur – yet her performance is seldom ascribed to her, but rather to her husband or her audience. And she's not alone with that …

Mum, I am a rich man!

"You only did that because you have a rich man." Hatice just needs to hear this sentence too often. Whenever she shows a special bag or watch, her "Sugar Daddy" bought it for her, of course. "I was very interested in designer things before. Of course I couldn't afford that at the time with my nursing salary. Nevertheless, I saved all my money to make my dreams come true," said Hatice in an interview. When she started working on YouTube, the allegations increased: "People keep saying that I could only afford everything thanks to my rich husband."

"That's just not true. Something else is always blamed. But only I have worked and saved for it. It is my own merit. If a woman is proud and self-confident, she is immediately referred to as arrogant. It is not the case with men. " In general, in their opinion, the acts of women and men are assessed differently. Many of her followers see the fact that her husband Sebastian has now moved to Berlin with her as a "blatant proof of love". "This is taken for granted with women," says Hatice.

She has not taken a vacation for over six years – but voices are still being raised that she owes everything to her viewers. If she doesn't manage to upload a video in time, comments like: "Remember who made you great." Hatice is therefore constantly under great pressure to do justice to everyone. Every day – and has been for years – criticism pours down on them. Because of that, she had to find a way to deal with all of this. And above all to be happy.

"Positive Vibes Only makes you sick. Of course, people like to consume happiness on Instagram. But you can also feel bad from time to time. The only important thing is to take the time and consciously find a solution. Sometimes I lock myself in a room and lie down on the floor. Then I just think and process all the impressions. I think we forgot to be bored. "

Better, faster, better

The constant comparison on social media does not only concern us users. Hatice, who is an idol for many, also faces the same problems. Especially her natural, rather narrow lips seem to be a thorn in the side of some followers.

In the real world, no one has ever spoken to me on my lips. It would have been presumptuous too – but behind a screen, people dare to do it.

"So often I get comments that I should have my lips injected. The more I read it, the more my thoughts rotated. Suddenly you only see models with full lips. Although I am a strong personality, it became real Psychological game in my head. If a person is insecure, it can really destroy a lot. " Your tip to us: seek a conversation. Talk to people who have lip fillers, for example, and then weigh them up for themselves. Of course, she does not judge anyone – but such decisions should only be made for and with yourself. Not for others.

Confident like Hatice

"I'm trying to train myself and I'm getting out of my comfort zone." No matter if full-face make-up for shopping or a high-fashion look for the bakery. She is admired by many people, including those from her private life. Because she wears what she wants. "This mindset can be acquired. You can just try it out at home, just for yourself in front of the mirror. Or just try to integrate a part. It's a process to develop freely, but it's so much fun", says Hatice. She in particular knows how difficult it is to escape the fixed structures of everyday life. And we can all do that – even if you hear the phrase "Believe in yourself" far too often now, that's exactly the right way to go. Without believing in yourself, Hatice would probably never have found herself and her success.
