Haut-Rhin: a girl attacked by a dog, her mother seriously injured while defending her


A 2.5-year-old girl was attacked by a dog on January 5 in Schweighouse-Thann (Haut-Rhin), about twenty kilometers from Mulhouse. His mother intervened and was seriously injured.

32 years old, she was bitten on her hands and wrists. She was transported by helicopter to the University Hospital Center (CHU) in Strasbourg, reports France Bleu.

The girl’s wounds are less serious. She was nevertheless transported to the Emile-Muller hospital in Mulhouse.

A dog classified as dangerous

The dog belonged to a neighbor, according to L’Alsace. This is an American staffordshire, a breed categorized as dangerous by the Rural and Sea Fisheries Code. American staffordshires are guard and attack dogs and cannot be tamed without a detention permit. This one was in order, and had not committed any incident until today.

The dog was taken to the SPA by the firefighters. An investigation to determine the precise circumstances of the events, which occurred at the end of the morning, was entrusted to the gendarmerie brigade of Masevaux.
