Haute-Loire: a teenager prosecuted for having pushed his 8-year-old sister from the top of a cliff


A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after pushing his 8-year-old sister off a 15-meter cliff.

The facts took place on Friday February 18 in Polignac in Haute-Loire during a family walk, reports France 3 confirming information from Awakening. During the day, a couple and their three children aged 16, 14 and 8 went hiking in the heights of the hamlet of Tressac. An argument then broke out between the two elders. “The little sister turned away from the argument. Her older brother grabbed her by the back and threw her into the void, ”explains to France 3, Eric Maillaud, the public prosecutor of Clermont-Ferrand.

Seriously injured by her 15-meter fall, the girl was rushed to Emile Roux hospital before being transferred by helicopter to Saint-Etienne. His life is not in danger but the victim suffers from several serious back injuries, specifies the prosecution. Arrested by the police, the big brother was taken into custody. He was charged with attempted murder of a 15-year-old minor.

Psychiatric history

The criminal center of Clermont was seized of the investigation. According to the prosecutor, the young man would have a “psychiatric history”. “An expertise was ordered the same day (…) A teenager who throws his little sister into the void, it is difficult not to go on a criminal qualification”, he specifies.

The young man was placed under judicial supervision, with a ban on contacting his little sister.
