Haute-Loire They campaign for Sunday without hunting

Not anti-hunting but pro dialogue for a better coexistence of hunters and walkers. The Ani-Maux 43 and FNE 43 (France Nature Environnement) collective met on Saturday morning in Le Puy-en-Velay to raise awareness among market shoppers. But with a location granted by the Town Hall Square de l’Europe (in front of the large central pharmacy), these activists were not able to show themselves as much as they would have liked.

“We would like to be able to walk quietly”

Based on a poll from the end of 2021 according to which 69% of French people are in favor of banning hunting on weekends and school holidays, they are asking for the establishment of non-hunting days, at least on Sundays. But also a better framework for hunting.

Ideas shared by a few passers-by like, Virginie, resident of Puy-en-Velay: “We would like to be able to walk quietly. The last time we took a walk, we heard gunshots in the distance, there was no signage, ”she testifies, also worried at the sight of the latest hunting accidents in the region.

But these militants know that they are not really on conquered ground. “There is a real tradition of hunting here, but we are not anti-hunting, we want better coexistence,” they explain. A few minutes before a motorist passing in front of their banner proclaims: “Yes to hunting on Saturday and Sunday! The debate has not finished dividing.
