Hautes-Alpes: she leaves her 9-month-old baby at the crèche and is overwhelmed when she comes to pick her up in the evening

An unfortunate oversight. On January 26, a vacationer who had left her nine month old in daycare center des Orres, in the Hautes-Alpes, had a funny surprise when it came to pick it up. Arrived on the spot, she indeed discovered that the daycare was closed, and empty, reports BFM DICI. Nevertheless, her daughter was still inside the establishment, after being “forgotten” by staff.

According to Pierre Vollaire, the mayor of the town with BFMTV, “there was a misunderstanding between two colleagues”. One of them “understood that the parents had come to pick up a child. It was not the case”he said, before adding: “as soon as we had the information, in a few minutes, we were on site. (…) We found the little one who continued her nap quietly”. According to the aedile, the baby would not be left alone that “a few minutes”.

“This must not happen again”

A investigation was opened for endangering the life of others by a legal personsaid Florent Crouhy, the public prosecutor of Gap, with BFM DICI. “This must not happen again. The little girl is fine and the mother too“, indicated the mayor of the town, before concluding: “it is an event that should lead us to be more cautious”. The Orres drop-in daycare center allows holidaymakers to leave their children under supervision during the day in order to go and enjoy the ski area during the day.
