Have fun capturing galaxies and black holes in this NASA mini game

NASA takes us to space to hunt exoplanets, supernovae and black holes thanks to the new game Roman Space Observer !

The nostalgia for the 80s does not stop in this year 2022. While the new season of Stranger Things arrives and offers its fans a complete retro atmosphere, NASA has also been offering us since June 2, 2022 a totally free retro game named Novel Space Observer Gamein honor of his future telescope.

80s nostalgia

The Roman telescope is not expected to launch into space before 2027. It still has a long way to go, but this new video game could give us a little insight into the first mission the telescope will have to accomplish.

Indeed, in Novel Space Observer Game we embody the small Roman telescope, which takes its name from the “mother” of the Hubble space telescope. The goal is simple: catch as many space objects as possible in 1 minute. To make you fully live the experience of the 80s, everything is accompanied by a soundtrack very (too?) retro.

To play, you can move the telescope using the arrow keys on your keyboard. In order to catch exoplanets, supernovas or black holes wandering in space, you have to press the “space” button. You have one minute when starting your game to capture them, the goal of the game being to collect as many points as possible.

Although easy to pick up, the game is difficult to master. Thus, the galaxies (in pink) are quite easy to catch. On the other hand, green exoplanets are fast and therefore more difficult to get. As for the James Webb Space Telescope (which is also present), and which appears in a golden form, you will have to be extremely fast and lucky to be able to capture it. The more difficult items will obviously earn more points.

As NASA explains on the game’s website, the goal of Roman Space Observer is to inform and inspire players about the incredible cosmic objects in our universe and what Roman may be able to see in a fun and engaging way. »

With Roman Space Observer, NASA pays homage to old arcade games. By the way, if you liked the game space invaderswe are sure that the game Roman Space Observer will be made for you.
