Worrying findings
To achieve these results, the researchers tested parents of at least one child every two years. for eighteen years. Over the years, the team of scientists was thus able to observe a more rapid decline among the parents of boys rather than parents of daughters. “The results support the theory that having sons may have a long-term negative effect on parental cognition”concludes the study. “These results were explained by higher demands on maternal resources during pregnancy with male offspring, as well as greater energy investment after birth”the researchers said.
